A new Starbucks that’s a spitting distance from the office. Hooray!

I originally described this new Starbucks Cafe as “walking distance” from where I work. But then I realized that the Starbucks in Roxas Boulevard corner UN Avenue is walking distance. And so is the Starbucks in Midtown Wing of Robinson’s Manila.

This new Starbucks branch at the ground floor of J. P. Laurel Building in Roxas Boulevard corner Pedro Gil, Malate, Manila is almost perfect for me. It’s a mere 100 meters (or less) from our office building, it has a great view of Manila Bay (and a good supply of great views inside, if you know what I mean), and it was unscathed by the never-before-seen storm surge that ravaged many of the ground-floor establishments along Roxas Boulevard a few days ago.

It’s only shortcoming is that it does not have free Wi-Fi. But I won’t take it against it since very few Starbucks stores offer free Wi-Fi. I’m just happy to have a nearby Starbucks Cafe to buy my cup of Green Tea Soy Latte from anytime I need one. And to have an alternative work area when it gets too “hot” or too “boring” in the office.

I’m sure I won’t have trouble blending in with the mostly college student clientele of this Starbucks branch.

My favorite work station

THIS IS one of my usual work stations, that is.

I found this photo in my iPhone gallery. Apparently I took the photo in one of my “working” visits to this particular place. I recognize this place distinctly as the Starbucks Cafe beside the Shell Gasoline Station near the corner of 32nd Street and Rizal Drive in Bonifacio Global City. See map. Continue reading

Stars & Bucks Cafe. Are you kidding me?

Stars & Bucks

You see the caption — Bethlehem | ISRAEL.  That’s right. I snapped a photo of this shop in downtown Bethlehem last November.

If this photo is not captioned some of you may have immediately blurted, “Onli in da Pilipins!”

Apparently, creative spoofing is not our monopoly.  Unless… the shop owner happens to be a Kabayan as well.  I should have dropped by, ordered a cup of Stars & Bucks, and asked.

One Green Tea Latte with Soy Milk, please. Hot, Venti.

I haven’t blogged for almost two months!  Wow, that’s incredible!  It’s a story of both failure and success.

On one hand it is a failure from the point of view of time management and commitment.  I’ve committed to post at least three blog entries per week.  I have obviously failed on this commitment in the past 2 months.  There’s no telling if I will continue to fail on it. And my lame excuse for this failure in fulfilling my personal commitment?  Too busy — with work and other personal projects!  A failure in time management, doubtless. Continue reading
