AUGUST 13, 2011. Our good friend, Liezel Jean Gerada finally tied the knot with long-time love, Ryan Briones. Theirs is a love story made for soap operas.
Their wedding day has two profound significance: (1) It was the realization of a “Love Worth Waiting For”… and (2) it was my first real attempt at Wedding Photography.
No I wasn’t the official wedding photographer although I was responsible in getting one. I was to serve just as back-up and “unofficial” photographer. The official photographer took the photos that will go to the newly weds’ official Wedding Album. I took the photos to post on FaceBook.
I took the role seriously nevertheless.
I was quite pleased with the photos I took. With some post-processing tricks using Picasa and a Tilt Shift photography app I recently bought from Apple’s Mac App Store I managed to produce some photos that would pass as the work of a pro, at least to untrained eyes.
There is one very important thing I realized from my first wedding photography gig, however, and that is the fact that Wedding Photography is not for me. I am simply not cut out for it. It is too demanding a job.
I’m glad I had my opportunity to try out Wedding Photography, and doubly glad that it was for Liezel and Ryan’s wedding. It was a labor of love. If it wasn’t I would have probably cursed the newly weds on the scene and walked out from the job.
