An old friend that I haven’t seen in at least two decades left a comment on my FaceBook account last night. She mentioned the fact that I don’t post anything about my extreme trail rides anymore.

Geez, my extreme trail riding is not the only one that I am not able to do anymore these days. I no longer run, too! And, if you are among the few people who read my blog posts, you might have noticed that I also no longer blog as much as I used to.
Even writing this blog post is a struggle in itself. I just wanted to break the dry spell and force myself to go back to fulfilling my personal commitments.
So what’s been keeping me from doing the things I love to do and have committed to do?
Among others is my ever growing backlog of raw digital photos. I was ecstatic when I discovered Picasa and Picasa Web because they allow me to process my digital photographs so much faster, but alas!, even Picasa can no longer help me keep up. It’s a simple case of “funneling syndrome.” The inputs continue to increase, overwhelming my finite resources (i.e. my time and energy) to process them into the desired output.
And I haven’t even touched my digital videos! Of course not being able to touch them doesn’t necessarily mean that they are not contributing to what I now call my e-Stress. At the back of mind I am aware of the fact that I have hundreds of gigabytes of digital video files that I will have to work on one way or the other. That thought alone already driving me crazy.
So what can and I and other people with similar situation do about these stressors?
I’m now very seriously considering outsourcing.
I figured that if I consider the amount of time I spend in processing these hundreds of gigabytes of digital photos and videos, and my hourly rate as a professional, chances are I am paying too much to get the job done.
I’ll slowly outsource starting with my raw digital videos.
It makes perfect sense to outsource. First of all there are people out there who can do the job much faster and supremely better than I can no matter how hard I try. And they’ll probably charge less than I would charge myself. Now I know why superior doctors go to inferior ones for their own medical problems. Because they couldn’t afford themselves!

LOL, I can relate.
