A pilgrimage to the Holy Land: First Stop – Cairo, Egypt

Egypt is NOT the Holy Land.  But it is a very familiar place in the Bible and holy people in both the Old Testament and the New Testament have been there.

Joseph (the Dreamer) brought the Israelites there where they eventually became slaves who were instrumental in building the now famous pyramids.  Moses brought them out of there, managing to fetch the Ten Commandments from God in Mt.  Sinai along the way.

Joseph, Mary, and Jesus (in her womb) escaped King Herod’s mass infanticide by sneaking out into Egypt.

On November 8, 2010, my xxGF, and my parents-in-law joined about 50 other Filipino pilgrims in boarding an Emirates flight for a 10-day trip to the Holy Land. Our pilgrimage would span three countries.

First stop: Egypt.

I uploaded some of our First Few Photos in Egypt in FaceBook.

    Bong,
Thank you so much for your wonderful blog. The pictures you had taken of the Holy Land are so amazing and your descriptions of the places are very informative, I could not help but reminisce my pilgrimage to the holy land in July 2010.

I just want to share my views regarding your description as follows “Joseph, Mary, and Jesus (in her womb) escaped King Herod’s mass infanticide by sneaking out into Egypt”. Matthew 2:13-15..Jesus was already born when the Holy Family escaped to Egypt.

From time to time I keep on browsing your wonder blog. If I may ask, did your group visit Tabgha, the place of the multiplication of bread and fish? It is nearby the church of St. Peter’s Supremacy. Once again thank you so much.
