Have you heard about a couple in the US who allegedly lost custody of their children simply because they chose Nazi-inspired names for their kids?
How do Adolf Hitler, JoyceLynn Aryan Nation, and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie for your children’s names sound to you? Well, this American couple actually likes this unmistakably Nazi-inspired names a lot. And they went ahead and named their kids as such.
But wait! Although naming one of their kids after Adolf Hitler may sound really weird to most people, I personally find the idea very frivolous. That is, assuming that the allegations are true that they lost custody of their children because of their name preferences.

Why, I personally know somebody in the Philippines whose husband’s first name is Hitler. They seem to like the idea a lot so they went ahead and named their first son, Himmler. They are a good and fun-to-be-with family, by the way.
Another personal acquaintance, a close friend actually, responds to the name Aryan (although it is just her nickname).
My point is, unless people shave their heads, don nazi-inspired tattoos, and display huge nazi-flags in their homes, having Nazi-inspired names should no longer invite alarm and scandal, in the same manner that having Leon, Tiger, Doberman, Draco, or Kraken as names hardly inspire fear anymore.
If at all, these odd name choices actually trivializes what were once “unutterable” or taboo names and should be relegated to what they really are — a product of people’s healthy sense of humor… or perhaps lack of imagination.
Apparently, there have been other grounds that ultimately resulted to the American couple’s custody lose over their children. There you go.
