I was finisher number 575 out of 1,024 runners who successfully crossed the finish line in the 10K event of the Timex Ironman Run on November 15, 2009. †My official clock in time is 1:10:11, a minute shy of my previous 10K finish three Sundays ago †during the Adidas King of the Road race.

That was such a lousy finish if you come to think of it. †I didn’t even make it to the top 50%!!! †Five years ago I was averaging 54 minutes in a 10K event and was always among the top 30% of the finishers. †But I have added at least 15 pounds, mostly in my midsection, since then so what do I expect?

The real story in this blog post is in the accompanying photo — my photo, that is. †What a pained expression! †Photovendo.com posted a total of 15 photos of me from the Timex Ironman Run and all 15 show me with a grimace. †And it was supposed to be a fun run.

I wonder how my photos will look like in the 15-km Paabilisan on November 22, 2009. †Perhaps signing up for the 15K event is not a good idea. †But it’s too late to back off. †I guess I’ll just have to remember to bring a visor and a pair of sunglasses to at least conceal my grimaced expression. †I hope the race organizers do not forget to have an ambulance on stand by just in case, LOL.

I found a very nice lunch place in Quirino Avenue near Roxas Boulevard. †It’s called Balot Sa Dahon and it is at the Caltex gasoline station at the corner of Quirino and M. H. Del Pilar (I think). †It is open 24 hours so should be a good dinner place, too, if you are in or around the area. †And the best part is: their food is very affordable, too.
