Cory’s Funeral Photos

TOGETHER with my ex-girlfriend, I attended Cory’s funeral on August 5. †It is not something we can brag about since we did not really do the whole stretch from Manila Cathedral in Intramuros to Manila Memorial Park in Sucat, ParaÒaque. †We waited for the cortege in Bicutan and joined the procession all the way to Manila Memorial. †It was a good 5-km walk, nevertheless.

Here are a few of the photos I managed to take. †These are not exceptionally good photos. †In fact most are of very poor quality actually. †You can only expect so much from iPhone’s spartan camera. †After all, I didn’t attend the funeral procession to take photos. †I managed to snap a few anyway, just to document the historical event.

Waiting at Bicutan. Approximately 5 thousand people were at the Bicutan junction of SLEX as early as 9am waiting for Cory's cortege to pass by.

Cory! Cory! Cory! The mood was generally festive in Bicutan. The thundering Cory! Cory! Cory! chant intensified as the procession's lead vehicles start to arrive.

Here comes Cory! The truck carrying Cory's coffin could hardly move forward as people struggle to get closer to see her one last time.

End of the Road. For us, it is the end of the journey to accompany Cory to her final resting place. The crowd in front the Manila Memorial Park were pushing their way inside the park in vain. We said our silent prayers for Cory and walked back home.
