Mark July 22 on your calendar

IF YOU haven’t yet, do mark July 22 on your calendar and set your mobile phone alarms for about 8:00AM (PH time, i.e. GMT+8). †Why? †Because one, if not several, once-in-a-lifetime phenomenal occurrence is supposedly destined to happen on July 22 starting at about 8:30AM, that’s why.

I am sure by now you have heard about huge the tsunamis that will hit several countries in the Pacific including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singpore, India, Mauritius, Maldives, and the Philippines, among several more others. †I’ve been receiving forwarded e-mails about this for several weeks now. †These huge tsunamis will supposedly occur on the aftermath of major earthquakes with epicenters located somewhere in Japan, Taiwan, and one other point somewhere in the vastness of the Pacific Ocean. †Or so the doomsday soothsayers predict.

On the other hand, level-headed people would shrug these doomsday scenarios pointing out that Science has not yet revealed how we can predict earthquakes and tsunamis many days †or even weeks in advance. †There’s nothing to lose if we heed this warning and take necessary precautions, the doomsday people would argue. †Maybe they’re right. †Or maybe not. †There’s our sanity to lose worrying about things that are statistically improbable to happen.

This confluence of catastrophic events is supposed to be caused by a total solar eclipse that will also happen on July 22.

The total solar eclipse is real and it will in fact occur on July 22, that I can say with absolute certainty. †And I don’t have to be a clairvoyant to do it. †It just took me a few seconds to confirm the veracity of this information.

If you want to check yourself you can just google “total solar eclipse on july 22.” † My most favorite reference link about this is the entry on Wikipedia. †It is from the same source that I grabbed this very nice animated GIF showing which countries the eclipse will pass over. †As you can clearly see, the eclipse will overshadow the entire Philippines for a little over two hours (from 9AM to about 11AM). †That will be one such spectacular and completely out-of-this-world occurrence that is unlikely to happen again for the several centuries. †According to NASA, the total solar eclipse on July 22 will not be surpassed in duration until June 13, 2132.

As to the earthquake and tsunamis, they are not exactly the kind of natural phenomena that we look forward to, aren’t they? †Besides, if what the doomsday soothsayers are saying is true, then there’s really nothing much that most of us regular folks can do about it except to pray.
