I AM NOT REFERRING to my mother-in-law, although I also adore her and consider her to be one of the most important women in my life.
My Sweetheart’s mother is THE most important woman in my life right now. That distinction used to belong to my own mother. Of course my mother remains to be one of the most important women in my life and I know she wouldn’t mind giving up her erstwhile spot in favor of my Sweetheart’s Mother.
My Sweetheart’s Mother is one exceptional woman, that I knew from the start.
Her integrity and sense of moral value is unassailable to the point that, at times, I find it too rigid for my own comfort. But then again, I am not exactly the most upright person around so perhaps it suits me well to have my Sweetheart’s Mother to straighten me every now and then.
My Sweetheart’s Mother has a very strong personality. Strong-willed unlike any other woman I know. Again it suits me well that this is so because my own personality is somewhat on the weak and shaky side. This alone is enough manifestation of how wise God really is. To other people hers may be too strong for comfort. It’s easy to get intimidated by my Sweetheart’s Mother. I should know because I am — intimidated, that is — quite often, even until now after more than a decade of knowing her.
My Sweetheart’s Mother is beautiful beyond description. But I guess she won’t appreciate that. After all she is a woman, and women love to hear men describe them clearly and without any ambiguity. For now I will have to ask her to bear with me. To describe her beauty in graphic details will require a lot more time and space than I have prepared to allot for this blog post. Besides, to describe her beauty I will end up having to change the title of this blog post to “My Sweetheart’s Beautiful Mother.” I am writing this blog post because today is Mother’s Day and for this year’s Mother’s Day I have decided to pay tribute to my Sweetheart’s Mother.
To describe my Sweetheart’s Mother as a mother let me talk about my Sweetheart.
My Sweetheart (and her cool brother) could not have been blessed with a better mother.
First she owes her beauty to her mother. As far as I’m concerned my Sweetheart is the most beautiful lady in the whole universe. It goes without saying — but I’ll say it anyway –that my Sweetheart’s Mother held this distinction before my Sweetheart came to be.
She also took to her mother’s intelligence and wit, and being both left handed, they share an artistic tendency that is waiting to be nurtured. Although this tendency remained latent in her mother, my Sweetheart has shown signs that hers has no intention of staying a secret.
And what do you expect the personality is like of someone who’s mother has a personality stronger than that of Joan of Arc? If my Sweetheart’s Mother intimidates me, my Sweetheart intimidates me twice as much.
But to talk about my Sweetheart’s Mother’s beauty and strong will, and how these got passed on to my Sweetheart multiplied by factors far greater than one, is a very superficial way to describe both of them.
My Sweetheart is the sweetest girl in the whole wide universe. As they say, nothing comes from nothing. My Sweetheart is the sweetest because her mother is her mother. (It follows that my Sweetheart’s cool brother is the coolest because his father is cool.)
I can go on and on as to what great virtues and attributes my Sweetheart’s Mother passed on to my Sweetheart. But I believe you already get the drift.
In this very special day, when people all over the world honor their mothers I would like to honor foremost my own mother, my mother-in-law, and my Sweetheart’s mother.
