My European Quickie

picture-22

SORRY TO DISAPPOINT YOU but this is not one of those naughty blog posts of mine. :-D

I was looking for something else in my photo library when I came across these quite old photos of mine. †These were taken during a really short trip to Germany (thus, the title) that I made in early 2004, shortly after I left IBM.

That was one really interesting trip! †If I remember it correctly (which I should because it was such a really, really short trip), I was in Europe (YES in EUROPE!!!) for no more than 30 hours. †My combined air travel to and from the German city of Heidelberg was even longer — Manila-Bangkok-Frankfurt: †18 hours; Frankfurt-Heidelberg: †1 hour; Heidelberg-Frankfurt: †1 hour; Frankfurt-Bangkok-Manila: †18 hours; Total: †38 hours.

The reason for my European trip was, in itself, one for the books. †I went to the rather laid back city of Heidelberg in the Bavarian region of Germany (SW of Berlin) for a [final] job interview, can you believe that?

It was an all-expense-paid trip, of course, courtesy of my would-be employers whose company is based in Heidelberg.

As fate would have it, it turned out that I ended up begging off from that job opportunity. †As great as the job opportunity sounds my would-be employers had some serious issues that really spooked me, so much so that I accepted another job offer as soon as I got back in PH. †But I’ll forever be grateful to them for that once-in-a-lifetime FREE European Quickie I had. :-)
