TODAY IS A VERY SPECIAL DAY FOR ME. It is my ex-girlfriend’s birthday. I would not dare reveal her age, but as far as my kids are concerned, she’s 16 years old today.
She does look 16 to me so I don’t really mind, even though as a consequence I become very old in comparison.
I am not complaining. I am celebrating. For one fine February 11 some years ago God decided to create the woman of my dreams. And I woke up with my ex-girlfriend.
To my ex-girlfriend I dedicate these two songs:
I Will Be Here (by Stephen Curtis Chapman )
Tomorrow morning if you wake up and the sun does not appear
I, I will be here
If in the dark you lose sight of love
Hold my hand and have no fear
‘Cause I, I will be here
I will be here when you feel like being quiet
When you need to speak your mind
I will listen, and I will be here
when the laughter turns to crying
Through the winning, losing and trying, we’ll be together
‘Cause I will be here
Tomorrow morning if you wake up
and the future is unclear
I, I will be here
As sure as the season are made for change
Our lifetimes were made for years
So I, I will be here
I will be here and you can cry on my shoulder
when the mirror tells us we’re older
I will hold you, and I will be here
to watch you grow in beauty
and tell you all the things you are to me
I will be here
I will be true to the promise I have made
to you and to the One who gave you to me

Just the way you are (by Billy Joel)
Don’t go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don’t imagine you’re too familiar
And I don’t see you anymore
I wouldn’t leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I’ll take the bad times
I’ll take you just the way you are
Don’t go trying some new fashion
Don’t change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care
I don’t want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.
I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take ’till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.
I said I love you, and that’s forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.
