Hidden Beauties Up There

“It is the journey, not the destination, that matters.”

High in Mt. Malipunyo are hidden wonders waiting to be discovered.
High in Mt. Malipunyo are hidden wonders waiting to be discovered.

WHOEVER said that must have climbed many mountains.

Most mountaineers are too focused on accomplishing their objective –† The Summit — that they tend to ignore the treasures along the way.

When we climbed Mt. Malipunyo, the highest peak in the Malarayat Mountain Range in Batangas, two weekends ago, I took time to pay attention to the diverse ecosystem along the pathway leading up to and going down from the Summit.† I am glad I did.† For one I discovered that climbing as well as descending a mountain is so much easier when you are enjoying the scenery around you.† More importantly the mountain revealed its hidden treasures to me as soon as I started really looking.

There is beauty everywhere in the mountain. You just have to look for them.

Armed with my iPhone (with its spartan camera features), my Olympus weatherproof digicam, and my bare-bones and less-than-basic knowledge of Macro Photography, I snapped away at each and every little thing that I find exotic and intriguing along the way.

I’ll feature these hidden beauties of Mt. Malipunyo in a series of posts in the next few days. :->
