SOME TIME LATE LAST YEAR together with a few friends I launched an e-zine (online magazine) called ForAdultsAlso.com.
We wanted it to be an “open community” e-zine, a hybrid between a regular magazine format and an online forum. It was a brave venture considering that such a model was still untested.
It was a great idea (I am convinced that it still is) and it started out quite well, and for almost half a year we managed to generate and publish several good materials.
But it could not be sustained due to a number of factors. The primary issue is technology. None of us knew about WordPress and similar tools and resources when we started with it. We ended up designing and creating the Content Management System (CMS) ourselves. Although we were quite impressed with what we have accomplished, it isn’t quite robust and user-friendly enough that it became a burden for our contributors to submit articles and an even bigger burden for us, the editors, to process and publish/post the articles. It didn’t help that no one is working for the e-zine full time.
With much regret we decided that the best thing to do, for now, is to temporarily close the e-zine while we replace the CMS (most probably with WordPress) and perhaps also revisit the e-zine’s basic model.
As the primary co-conspirator in putting up the e-zine and also as the owner of the ForAdultsAlso.com domain name I feel I owe it to the e-zine’s contributors to find a way to at least keep their articles available online. My only means to do that right now is through this blogsite.
And so all articles in ForAdultsAlso.com whose authors/contributors have explicitly given me their permission will be posted in aWonderfulBlog.com in the next days and weeks.
Meanwhile http://foradultsalso.com will be re-directed to http://awonderfulblog.com until it is ready to go up online again. #
