A few months back, my boss forwarded to me an e-mail containing really cool Google tips. I posted it in the e-zine ForAdultsAlso.com for quick and easy reference (see http://www.foradultsalso.com/wc.php?id=83).
†
Here are some more really cool Google tips (from Google.ph):
†
Google as Calculator ñ there is no need to open another application because you can do it in the same search box where you type in keywords when you are Googling. Just key in the numerals along with the corresponding mathematical operations (e.g. ì+î for addition, ì-î for subtraction, ì*î for multiplication, and ì/î for division, to name a few).
†
Google as Dictionary ñ Just type the word ìdefineî followed by a colon, a space, and the word(s) you want defined in the search box.
†
Google as Translator ñ When you perform a search in Google and a non-English site comes up, you can click on the ìTranslate this Pageî button to see the page in English (note: it’s not always perfect translation though). Also, the ìLanguage Toolsî link to the right of the search box on the home page takes you to Google’s translation service, and also let’s you translate entire Websites into your language (note: not all languages are available).
†
Google as a Package Tracker ñ Track packages you shipped via FedEx or UPS using Google. Simply type in the search box the tracking number on your airway bill and you will get direct link that displays the latest information on your package.
†
Google as an E-Library ñ Look for documents in specific file types such as PDF, Microsoft Office, PostScript, Corel WordPerfect, and Lotus 123, among others.
†
Google as Weather forecaster ñ No need to wait for Kuya Kim. Know what clothes to pack for travelling with Google’s weather forecast function. Simply type ìweatherî plus the location of the place you want to research on.
†
I really love Google!
