THIS MORNING I was reading this trivia book my ex-girlfriend and I serendipitously found at†Toys R Us section of Robinson’s Department Store in WalterMart, Makati.
I found some really mind boggling trivial information from this cheap trivia book (What in the World?, Php49.00). I’ve actually came across these same information several times in the past already, but they still manage to make me gasp in awe every time I come across them once again.† Here are some of them:
How far away is the sun?† Sun’s average distance from Earth is 93 million miles.† Even at that distance, the sun is the nearest star to Earth.
How big is the sun?† The sun is big.† It is the largest body in the solar system.† It’s diameter is 865,036 miles.† In comparison, Earth has a diameter of 7,926 miles.† The surface of the sun covers more than 2,200,000,000,000 square miles.
How old is the sun?† The sun is five billion years old.
How many stars are there?† At latest count, there are 100 billion stars in the Milky Way which is the galaxy our solar system is in.† In the universe, the number of stars is estimated to be 1 followed by 22 zeroes.
